KYB document requirements
KYB can require formation, ownership, governance, authority, identity, and address evidence. The exact requirement depends on the business, jurisdiction, ownership structure, risk review, and current task.Supported countries

Read the current task to learn which documents are required. Upload each requested file withPOST /v3/customers/{customerId}/documents, then reference the returned document id in the applicable task answer.
The upload uses multipart/form-data and accepts raw file bytes. The endpoint accepts PDF, JPEG, PNG, WebP, and HEIF/HEIC files up to 25 MB. A current task can narrow the accepted type, count, or format.

Document categories
Certificate of incorporation
A certificate of incorporation is government-issued evidence that proves the business’s legal formation and registration.
The evidence should:
- Be filed with the secretary of state or equivalent government body
- Show the legal entity name exactly as registered
- Be current and valid, rather than expired or dissolved
Corporate structure
Corporate-structure evidence shows the complete ownership structure, including owners and ownership percentages.
Key requirements:
- Account for 100% of ownership
- Identify all Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs) who own 25% or more
- Include ownership documents for parent entities when the business is entity-owned
- Date and sign self-generated documents through a verified control person, lawyer, or third-party CPA
Director structure
Director-structure evidence identifies the company’s directors, officers, and control persons. The review can require both current related-party resource facts and an uploaded supporting document. Accepted supporting documents include:- Board Resolution
- Annual Report
- Bylaws
- Board Meeting Minutes
- Register of Directors
- Certificate of Incumbency
- All directors and board members
- All executive officers, including the CEO, CFO, COO, and President
- All UBOs who own 25% or more
- Anyone with significant control over the business
Power of attorney
A power of attorney or accepted alternative shows that the person completing KYB has authority to act for the company.
When a control person completes KYB, accepted alternatives can include:
- Board Resolution authorizing the individual to act for the company
- Authorization Letter signed by a director or officer
- Current related-party facts showing the person’s signer and control roles when the task asks for them
- Be signed by an authorized officer or director
- State the scope of authority
- Name the authorized representative
- Be notarized when required or recommended
- Be current and unexpired
Proof of address
Not accepted:
- PO Box addresses
- Virtual office addresses unless accompanied by physical-address evidence
- Documents older than 90 days, except current valid lease agreements
- Mobile phone bills
- Insurance documents
- Documents not addressed to the business legal name
