# Business onboarding overview

> Understand the policy scope, information, ownership facts, and evidence reviewed during KYB.

## Business onboarding (KYB)

To onboard a business, you provide the legal entity profile, ownership structure, control persons, and supporting evidence needed for Know Your Business (KYB) review.

<Warning>
  Requirements vary by business, jurisdiction, capability, and review. Current
  tasks and generated schemas control what you must submit.
</Warning>

KYB is required before a business customer can transact. The review covers entity verification, UBO identification, control-person review, authority to act, and document collection.

## What KYB covers

Swipelux reviews the business itself and the people or entities that own, direct, or act for it. The review can also consider where the business operates, how funds move, expected activity, and the controls used for higher-risk activity.

## Information reviewed

### Legal entity profile

* Legal entity formation, registration, tax, trading-name, and address information
* The legal name and jurisdiction of formation
* Registration and incorporation details
* The business's operating and contact information

### Ownership and control

* Direct and indirect ownership, voting interests, control persons, directors, officers, and authorized signers
* Ownership percentages and the chain through any parent entities
* The individuals who meet the UBO threshold
* The people with authority or significant control, even when they own less than the threshold

### Documents and authority

* Formation, ownership, governance, authority, identity, and address evidence
* Evidence that accounts for the ownership structure
* Evidence that the person completing KYB can act for the company
* Identity and address evidence for people named by the current review requirements

### Business activity and risk

* Business activities, operating countries, expected volumes, source and purpose of funds, flow of funds, revenue, customer-funds handling, and compliance controls
* High-risk activities or verticals
* Operations involving sanctioned or higher-risk jurisdictions
* The expected scale and direction of transaction activity

## Policy concepts and current tasks

Entity types, industries, sources of funds, and purposes of funds are policy classification concepts, not a fixed set of current request values. Use them to understand the review context. The current customer schema and current task requirements determine what you submit.

See [entity and business types](/knowledge-base/business-onboarding/entity-and-business-types), [document requirements](/knowledge-base/business-onboarding/document-requirements), and [shareholders, UBOs, and control persons](/knowledge-base/business-onboarding/shareholders-ubos-and-control-persons) for the policy details.

## Implementation

For implementation steps, follow the current [business onboarding guide](/integration/onboarding/customers#business-customers), then act from the latest tasks through [Capabilities and tasks](/integration/onboarding/capabilities-and-requirements#complete-current-tasks).
