## Ownership and control

### What if a director owns less than 25%?

A director who owns less than 25% is not a UBO solely because of that ownership. The director role remains distinct and should still be recorded when the person serves on the board or has significant influence.

### Can the director completing KYB skip the power of attorney?

A formal power of attorney may not be required when a director or officer completes KYB and their authority, signer role, and control role are otherwise established. The current task can still request authority evidence, such as a board resolution or authorization letter.

### What if my company is owned by another company?

Provide ownership evidence for the parent company, then continue up the ownership chain through each parent until you reach the individual UBOs who own or control 25% or more. The evidence should account for 100% of ownership, including interests below the UBO threshold.

### How do I add owners and control persons to a business customer?

Create current related-party resources with [`POST /v3/customers/{customerId}/related-parties`](/api-reference/customers/post-v3-customers-by-customer-id-related-parties). Use the roles and ownership or control facts requested by the current task.

See [business onboarding](/integration/onboarding/customers#business-customers) for related-party mechanics.

## Documents

### Is corporate structure a document upload or resource data?

It can be both. Submit current API/resource facts and supporting evidence when the task requests them. A cap table, shareholders' agreement, ledger, ownership chart, or attestation can support the ownership structure, but it does not replace requested related-party facts.

### What proof of address documents do you accept?

Accepted examples include:

* Bank statements issued within the last 90 days
* Utility bills for electricity, gas, water, or internet issued within the last 90 days
* Government-issued letters issued within the last 90 days
* Office lease agreements that are current and valid, even when older than 90 days
* Commercial rent receipts issued within the last 90 days

The policy does not accept PO boxes, unsupported virtual-office-only evidence, mobile phone bills, insurance documents, stale evidence outside the stated exception, or documents not addressed to the business.

### What file formats are supported?

The current upload operation accepts PDF, JPEG, PNG, WebP, and HEIF/HEIC files up to 25 MB. Send raw file bytes as `multipart/form-data` through [`POST /v3/customers/{customerId}/documents`](/api-reference/documents/post-v3-customers-by-customer-id-documents). The current task can impose narrower requirements.

See the [Integration Documents guide](/integration/onboarding/capabilities-and-requirements#upload-documents).
